Adult Beginners Course
Due to several requests from new and prospective members and because we will be available to coach shortly, we have decided to run a 4 week begginer's kayaking course on Tuesdays starting 31st May. The sessions will run from 6.30pm to 8:00pm and are aimed at parents of younger paddlers, and other adult beginners. If you are interested in this course, please email us to obtain a signing up form. This will need to be completed with a cheque for £10 made out to "Chippenham Sailing & Canoeing Club" and posted to Martin Harrall. If you are a non member you will either need to join the club or add a further £10 on to cover temporary membership. The temporary membership is redeemable against full membership should decide to join after the course has finished.

Additional notes (please read):

Spaces on courses will be issued on a first come first served basis, this means when Martin Harrall has a form and cheque in his hands, not before.

Please do not make cheques out to Martin, they are to be made out to Chippenham Sailing and Canoeing Club.

Some courses require trips away from the club or competition for experience, and some require formal assessments. Please check the club calender for trip/competition details. Assessment dates are included in the details above. A calender for the years's events will be issued shortly.

We will endeavour to be as flexible as possible as far as course timings, dates and numbers are concerned, however I cannot work miracles.
Your coach may wish to adjust timings to suit the group, please try to be flexible in return.
If your coach cannot make a session we will try to replace him/her or failing that reschedule the session.

We have access to 2 sit-on-top kayaks for those who are worried by closed cockpit kayaks.

Persons wishing to paddle on Tuesdays 18:00 to 20:00, Thursdays 18:00 to 20:00, and Fridays 17:00 to 19:00 outside the bounds of an organised course may do so, but equipment priority will be given to those booked onto courses.
Once the courses are completed, after the majority of coaches have returned from the summer alpine paddling trip, club Tuesday and Thursday club evenings will become general paddling evenings. We will endeavour to provide adhoc coaching when asked, and to organise activities such as games to occupy paddlers.

Certificates are not guaranteed at the end of a course, it is important to attend as many sessions as possible to maximise your chances of achieving the required standard. For 1 star and Paddlepower passport courses, a basic 'Start' certificate may be issued for very young paddlers or those who are unable to attend enough sessions.
Certificates will be organised after the courses have finished and will be distribued at the presentation evening in September.

Non members wishing to join a course may do so after 27/03/2011 asuming there is still space. Members, you have a couple of weeks head start! Non members will be charged an additional £10 on top of the normal course fee, which is redeemable against full membership should you decide to join the club.

If you would like to find out about the coach taking your course click here.

See you in the summer!
